What’s Next?

I’ve gotten a lot of questions lately along the lines of “What’s next?” and “What’s happening to the blog now that the trip is over?”

As far as what’s next for me, I’m still figuring that out day by day.

If there’s one thing the trip gave me, it’s a huge appreciation for Tampa. It hasn’t always felt like “home” these past five years – but what made me realize it truly is home now was leaving for four months. When I was homesick, I was homesick for the US in general – but Tampa in particular. My little house has truly become mine, and I love it so much. And then there’s my group of friends – I have an AMAZING group of friends here!

On the flip side, there are a lot of pros to moving back to Dallas – I have an AMAZING group of friends there, too! It’s closer to my mom, it’s a bigger city, the shopping is excellent, and they have Central Market. (kidding not kidding)

So we’ll see. I could end up getting surprised and going somewhere that’s not Tampa or Dallas. I’m just looking at life, praying, and trusting that it’s going to work out like it should.

The easier question to answer is what’s happening to the blog.

I like this blog – it’s been fun to keep up with, and it’s been good accountability for me. So the blog is going to live for at least a while longer. It’s going to transition to more about travel tips and location guides than the journal it’s been, and it’s highly likely it’s not going to be every morning at 7am any more.

But for me, Partway There is about more than travel – wherever you are, you’re always on the road to something else. So this is going to be a bit more about the journey.

Some key things you’ll start seeing are recipes for foods I learned to love on the trip, and you’ll probably get a few tutorials on some of the things I’m doing to my house. Of course, there are still many more photos to share from the trip, as well as some “behind the scenes” of how all the photos came to be. And from there, who knows?

If there’s one thing I learned on the trip, it’s that things work out, and it’s an awesome ride.

I am so proud of you, and really taken with that last picture…love it. You must have been saving it! You have proven you can do anything you set your heart on doing. You have done so with a large measure of economy in mind, trading total usual American comfort for the experience of meeting so many wonderful people in less comfortable..but TOTALLY adequate accomodations. You have done so with safety in mind in a terribly troubled world, all the while not letting that ruin your dreams. You are a treasure in and of itself…I have known that since the moment you were born. You are goal oriented, well thought out, and have a great head on your shoulders. Love you more than you will ever know. Congratulations are in order for a job and dream well done. Thank you for letting me participate in the last part. It meant the world.
