Oh, France! France made me decide that my new “I really really love you” is going to be to tell people that I love them more than all the bread and cheese in France! It was a wonderful week, with lots of good (but simple!) food, and enjoying the great outdoors.
In all, in 7 days in France, I spent $913.51.
How did that work out?
Airfare from Naples to Paris: $167.99
I took a flight from Naples to Paris – this cost included my fees for bag check.
Visa for France: $0.00
France is part of both the EU and Schengen, so my flight in from Italy was treated as a domestic flight.
Accommodations in Paris and Avignon: $510.21
I stayed in AirBnBs in Paris and Avignon, so it was more expensive than it could have been if I’d gone the hostel route, but I was so much happier with my own place!
Activities in France: $19.20
I didn’t spend a ton of money on activities in Paris (though I easily could have!). This was simply a few museum tickets and nothing else. I skipped the Louvre (gasp!) because I want to come back for it.
Transportation through France: $82.32
This was mainly subway tickets in Paris and the train to Avignon and Arles!
Food in France: $131.03
My food was quite economical – I did a ton of eating in, eating from street vendors (ALL the crepes!), and from local bakeries!
Miscellaneous: $2.76
Gotta love Europe and their pay-to-use toilets!
Ultimately, it came out to an average of about $106.50 per day (without flights). I was happy with that – it was definitely a “budget” way to do France. Even on a budget, France was incredibly enjoyable. I can’t wait to go back with a whole lot more wiggle room in it!
Still curious? Find out more about what I spent on my 4-month trip around the world.
